AbstractThe presented research data aim at making strain differentiation of the plum pox virus (sharka virus, PPV) that has infected trees in economically important stone-fruit orchards such as plum, peach and prune trees. The research covers experimental and private plantations, where preliminary examinations were made to find symptoms of the sharka virus. The visual diagnostics was combined with ELISA tests using polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies for the pathogen mentioned above. The results showed that it could infect the examined types, but Prunus domestica L. was most susceptible to it. The population of this pathogen in the regions of the research seems homogeneous as only PPV-M strains were identified in the samples.
