| Abstract | The paper presents an analysis of the factors for the spread of plum sharka (plum pox) disease and the level of injury caused by Plum pox virus (PPV). The authors differentiated the factors in two groups: natural and anthropogenic. The first one includes the ability of PPV to last and spread under natural conditions, the presence of natural hosts and vectors of the infectious agent as well as the evolution of its population. The anthropogenic factors are: production and trade of plant propagative material, selection of new technologies into the fruit ptoduction and state policies in the agricultural sector. The analysis leads to a conclusion that plum sharka is an endemic disease not only on the territory of Balkan peninsula. The specific characteristics of different geographic distans isolates of PPV show an evolution of the pathogen passed on the central , eastern and southern parts of Europe. |
