| Abstract | Tomato lethal necrosis is one of the most important disease on the tomatoes in Bulgaria and hence new knowledge about the ethiology is required. In 2001 we monitored the tomato lethal necrosis in Bulgaria. Lethal necrosis (CMV) was found as independent disease in 25 % of the samples. In all other samples the tomatoes were infected not only by CMV, they carry 1-3 viruses and 1 phytoplasma in mixed infections. The isolates of CMV II subgroup were prevalent as a causal agent of lethal necrosis (62 %). The isolates of CMV I subgroup were 17%, and 21% consist of I and II subgoup together. The other attendant viruses were tobacco mosaic virus (TMV), potato virus Y (PVY), tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) and the phytoplasma stolbur. |
