AbstractThe effect of Cucumber mosaic virus(CMV) and Broad bean wilt virus( BBWV) by single and mixed infections on quantity and quality of pepper yield was studied. It was found that the susceptibility of pepper depends on both virus type and plant cultivar, the determining factor being the timing of viral infection. CMV infection has had the strongest effect on pepper yield followed by the BBWV and mixed infection. Mixed infection shows an effect of interference. The rate of different fruit characteristics in total depression was established. The total yield and number of markerable fruits as percentage of total fruits produced on an infected plant was one of the most representative parameter. The proportion number of unmarketable to marketable fruits was a very important characteristic for estimating the reduction caused by a viral infection on pepper yield quality.
