Main activities
Scientia Terrae, a not-for-profit-organization, was founded in October 2001 as a research, service and education institute for the benefit of the horticulture industry and food sector.
Scientia Terrae has positioned itself at the interface between the academic world and the agriculture industry to translate fundamental science into practical solutions and real-world applications.
This unique position of the institute has enabled it to stretch and break the boundaries that once constrained proactive companies and entrepreneurs.
Interests to become ResistVir member
Plant virology is one of the main research areas in the unit 'Phytopathology and biorational control' within the Scientia Terrae Research Institute.
More specifically our group focuses on applied research on current virus problems in horticultural (mainly glasshouse) crops of economical importance in Belgium.
As genetic resistance is one of the most important strategies to cope with viral diseases, we are highly interested to join the ResistVir group.
ResistVir is joining leading plant virologists in Europe researching on different aspects of virus resistance. For a breeding seed company resistance to important diseases is a must.
Interaction with top scientists would allow us establishing collaborative efforts and opening new lines of research.
